PopulationLa population de Nouvelle-Calédonie est à 268 767 habitants. Ils s'appelle Néo-Calédoniens. Au recensement (census) en 2014, il y avait 39.1% des gens Kanak (Canaque), 27.2% des gens Européens et 8.7% des gens "Calédoniens". Le dernière 25% est composé des Wallisiens, Tahitiens, Indonésiens, Ni-Vanuatu et des autres asiatiques.

SALUTATIONS: A la Nouvelle-Calédonie, il fait dire bonjour à TOUT LE MONDE. Même quand on est en voiture on salue les autres dans la rue. Avec les Européens et les Kanaks (Melanesian) , il faut se regarder dans les yeux quand on se parle, mais avec les personnes asiatiques, il ne font pas ça. On serre la main aux autres, aux îles sauf si on les connaît très bien. Avec les Français, on fait la bise avec la famille et les amis en les saluant et en partant. Si non, on serre la main. ON NE FAIT PAS DES CÂLINS!! C'est bizarre et trop familier. On peut bien suivre les même coutumes en Nouvelle-Calédonie qu'en France. Il faut éviter de toucher les personnes inconnues, même si on le fait aux États-Unis pour établir un sens de familiarité.
RENCONTRES: Quand on est invité chez un Calédonien tribal, c'est coutumière d'offrir un petit cadeau. On peut offrir de la nourriture, quelques mètres de tissu, de l'argent ou les cigarettes. Si on est invité chez quelqu'un inconnue, il faut se présenter. |
